Difference Between Repeated and Absolute Accuracy of Laser Ranging Sensor?
Measure accuracy of the sensor is critical to a project, typically, there are two types of accuracy that engineers focus on: repeatability and absolute accuracy. let’s talk about the difference between repeatability and absolute accuracy.
Repeatability accuracy refers to: the max deviation of the results obtained by the measuring sensor repeatedly measuring the same change process.
Absolute accuracy refers to: the max difference between the value of the measuring sensor and the standard value.
Taking the test of a target at 100mm as an example, if there are measurement results of two distance modules as an example:
The measurement results of No. 1 sensor are 88, 89, 89, 88;
The measurement result of sensor No. 2 are 97,100,99,102;
The analysis results show that the measurement result of No. 1 fluctuates very little, but it is far away from the standard distance of 100mm;
The measurement results of No. 2 fluctuate more, but the difference from the standard distance of 100mm is very small.
If the No. 1 and No. 2 sensors are two types of laser sensors, then the No.1 sensor has high repeatability but less accuracy; No. 2 has poor repeatability but high accuracy.
Therefore, the two indicators are very different, but there is a certain overlap.
A good laser measure modules are those with both good repeatability and high precision, like: 99,100,100,99,100.
Seakeda laser distance sensor have both good absolute accuracy and repeatability, ensure accurate and consistent accuracy performance in measurements, we are available if any question you may have. Please send us an inquiry for checking more details.
